My colleague Hans has a "HBM showroom" in the attic, as he so eloquently puts it.
By invitation I went there for some barbecue, metal shopclass and the sharpening kit was quickly presented. Hans is a more than adequate sharpener himself and just like that we were hobbying the night away.
One of many cool gadgets up there is a microscope with it's own LCD screen. Sharpening goes on intuition mostly, but even I will take out a jeweler's loupe whenever the eyes get tired and I'm in need of some magnification (40x) and some LED lighting.
Said apparatus can enhance the image an unmodest amount of times over, has built-in lights and a super clean screen to gander at. Wow...
Sharpening happens on intuition and by the naked eye. Still nice to see your work be confirmed like this. My biggest problem right now... it will to forever for it te become my birthday!
